Google debuts Google Instant, a feature that delivers real-time streaming search page results.

Large-cap technology names have been beaten down over the last couple of months, and as a result, many of these companies appear to offer compelling value. During today's trading session, the PowerShares QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ: QQQQ), which tracks the performance of the tech-laden Nasdaq 100, has gained 1.12% to $46.21.

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) has fallen 0.15% to $23.92. Rumors had circulated earlier in the day that the company might be looking at an acquisition in the software security space.

Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) has surged 2.07% to $263.15 after UBS raised estimates and its price target on the stock.

Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is up 1.15% to $469.75 on the session.

Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) has lost 1.60% after the stock was downgraded at UBS from Buy to Neutral.

Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) has lost 0.68% to $24.10. The company announced yesterday that it had hired former Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) CEO Mark Hurd as co-president.

Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) has fallen 2.96% to $38.74. The company announced yesterday that it is suing former CEO Mark Hurd in an effort to prevent him from joining Oracle.

SEATTLE, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Google Inc's legal chief called for pressure on governments that censor the Internet, such as China and Turkey, arguing that their blocking access to websites unfairly restrains U.S. businesses and would be unacceptable in physical trade.

Google's big search event is over. It went on for a solid 90 minutes, but in the end, only one thing was announced: Google Instant.

So what is Google Instant, and what took so long? Here's what you need to know:

• Users who go to Google's home page now see search results updating live as they type text into the search bar.

• That means you can get search results by pressing a single letter key.

• The live search results aren't based just on what you've typed so far, but rather on Google's best guess at what you will end up typing, as predicted by Google Suggest.

• Yes, you can turn it off if you find that irritating.

• The feature is already live in the United States in Chrome, Firefox, IE 8, and Safari. More countries will be brought into the fold over the course of the next week. A mobile version is expected within the next few months.

• Google won't show results for searches it deems inappropriate unless you actually hit enter or click the search button.

• Everyone at Google thinks this is going to be huge. It sounds very minor at first, but the more we think about it, the more we think it could have a big impact on how people search. Expect Bing to copy this as quickly as Google has copied all of Bing's recent innovations.

• So far, people are responding positively to it. Which, presumably, Google already knew they would, since it doesn't make the slightest move in search without plenty of A/B testing.
